Fishing
Quarry Fish Species in the fresh waters of Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park:
- Game fish:- Salmon, Sea Trout, Rainbow Trout, Brown Trout and Grayling.
- Course fish:- Pike, Perch, Carp, Roach, Dace, Bream, Gudgeon, Chub and all other species.
Note: the new right of responsible access under the Land Reform (Scotland) Act 2003 does NOT give the right to fish.
GET PERMISSION - GET A PERMIT - GET FISHING
Trossachs Fishing www.trossachs-leisure.co.uk provides fishing, boat hire, and various fishing packages and tuition on Loch Venachar and some salmon river runs. Permits for Loch Lubnaig are available from Strathyre shop.
Loch tay fish 'n' trips www.lochtayfishntrips.co.uk: enjoy a scenic boat trip and view the fantastic scenery and local wildlife, or a days fishing with an expert local skipper to maximise your chances of a whopper. All tackle and equipment supplied.

Horse Riding
Crieff Hydro Hotel offers lessons and trekking and Mains of Taymouth also offers trekking for both experienced and non-experienced riders. Rednock farm trekking center is between Thornhill and Port of Menteith on the road to Aberfoyle from Stirling, 30 minutes from Stirling and only 10 minutes from Callander.
Golf
There are local courses in Callander, Killin, St Fillans, Aberfoyle and Dryman.
The National Park Golf Pass offers visitors to the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park the opportunity to play five quality golf courses within the area.
The five participating clubs are:
- Aberfoyle
- Buchanan Castle
- Callander
- Killin
- St Fillans
The Pass enables golfers to play five rounds on the participating courses at a cost of £80 for five days or £50 for three rounds (during the season). Those wishing to play Buchanan Castle will pay a £10 supplement.
The pass allows visitors to play any five/three rounds - eg you could play one course five times in the season. Visit www.nationalparkgolf.co.uk or email us for more information on golf passes.
Watersports - kayaking, sailing, windsurfing, fishing and more
Located on the junction of the A84 and the A85 on the western end of Loch Earn, Perthshire. The Loch-side Café offers an ideal location to have lunch, tea or just sit with a coffee and watch the activities on dry land! They are children friendly, and have High Chairs and baby changing facilities. They also offer a selection of home baking sourced as locally as possible.
There is a variety of water-sports on offer including Water-skiing, and Wakeboarding, with Active Scotland.
New for 2011 Lochearnhead Water Sports Centre with a lovely range of water based activities including Water Zorbing (like being in a hamster wheel on water! There is a launching slip-way and a number of moorings available for the season www.lochearnhead-watersports-centre.com/.
Swimming
There is a public swimming pool in Callander – 01877 330000. Our guests can also use the Leisure facilities at Crieff Hydro Hotel at a cost of £10.20 per adult, and £8.15 per child over 5. This includes the main swimming pool, children’s pool, steam room and Jacuzzi, and the adults only Victorian Spa with sunken pool, Jacuzzi, steam room & sauna. Also the fitness suite, snooker room, cinema and playground. For an additional fee children can be booked into the Kids Club for supervised play and discounts are given on other activities such as golf, riding shooting and the Hair and Beauty Salon (yes having your hair done is an activity!).
Perth Leisure Centre has a large indoor and outdoor pool and extensive children's facilities – don’t forget to pick up a Visitor Discount pass from reception.
