Opposite the park is The Golden Larches licensed restaurant. The Kingshouse Hotel is one mile south of the park which is our closest pub. This also serves bar snacks. A FREE TAXI SERVICE IS AVAILABLE TAKING YOU TO AND FROM KINGSHOUSE IF FOOD IS BOOKED. You can walk safely to it on Rob Roy Way path that runs across the road from the park.
Most famous of all in our vicinity is Nick Nairns cook school - www.nicknairncookschool.com and restaurant at the Port of Menteith. Here you can take a masterclass in the Cook School, or simply visit the newly refurbished hotel.
Another rapidly rising star is Tom Lewis from Monachyle Mhor just outside Balquhidder village - www.monachylemhor.com. His famous menus feature modern Scottish cuisine uses mainly locally sourced ingredients of the highest standard. He is currently appearing on the Great British menu on BBC 2 along with Nick Nairn, promoting the best in Scottish cooking, including local hill lamb.
If you fancy a drive out the Real Food Cafe in Tyndrum is about 40 mins away and offers award winning food - including GLUTEN AND DAIRY FREE FISH SUPERS AND ONION RINGS - a real treat for allergy sufferers. www.therealfoodcafe.com.
Other great local eateries are Poppies in Callander www.poppieshotel.com , the Inn & Bistro Strathyre www.innatstrathyre.com , the Lade Inn in Kilmahog (see also ceilidhs) www.theladeinn.com, and the Four Seasons in St Fillans www.thefourseasonshotel.co.uk. Also in Callander is the Ben Ledi Cafe - www.benledicafe.co.uk owned and run by Tom Lewis's brother Dick. Although this only opened in 2005 it is already gained success to be in the top 50 fish and chip shops in the UK.
